Myotherapy

What is myotherapy?

Myotherapy is the treatment of pain and disfunction within the body. Myotherapists assess the body as a whole to determine the root cause of an injury or imbalance that may be contributing to your pain, use manual hands-on therapy and evidence based treatments to manage your musculoskeletal conditions.

Myotherapy treatments address a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and associated pain. It can aid in the prevention of injury by increasing your body awareness and improving muscle balance and function and keep you moving freely.

As well as treating acute and chronic pain, myotherapy is a great ongoing body management program. How does myotherapy work?

Using modalities such as massage, dry needling, joint mobilisation, exercise and stretching your myotherapist will work with you to determine the best course of action to manage your injury and can provide you with ongoing support of chronic conditions.

Your initial consultation will be for an hour in which your myotherapist will take a full medical history, assess your condition or injury, use hands-on therapy to treat you and provide you with exercises and stretches to aid in your recovery. We will also help identify behaviours that may be contributing to your condition, such as overtraining or poor posture and develop a pain management plan to offer relief for issues that cannot be solved by lifestyle changes.
